Hoarding is reaching epidemic proportions in the UK. Around 1.2 million people across the country are classed as hoarders but what drives a person to hoard and what devastating effects can it have on a person’s life?

Episode 1
In the picturesque city of Bath, Paul’s cottage is bursting at the seams with a lifetime’s collection of junk. Known locally as ‘boot cottage’ - because everything Paul owns and wears comes from car boot sales - every room is a no-go zone.

Episode 2
In Harlow, 63-year-old Bubbles’ high-rise flat is packed with piles of junk she can’t bear to throw away. But it doesn’t end there she also has a staggering 4 lock ups stuffed to the gills with rubbish.

Episode 3
In Mansfield Sue’s hoard is driving her family and grandchildren away and her husband Neil to distraction. Every room is crammed with clutter including a bedroom that looks more like a dolls graveyard than somewhere to sleep.

Episode 4
In Liverpool, the Bells are a family at war over hoarding. Mum Betty and son Richard are happy to live in their mess, but son in law Keith is determined that things must change. Can they change the habit of a lifetime and part with their possessions?

79-year-old Joyce moved into her dream home in Liverpool nearly 40 years ago with her partner, Norman. But when he passed away, she lost her battle to keep on top of the hoarding behavior she inherited from her mum.

What happens when a hoarder can no longer live safely in their home and the family are left to pick up the pieces? House clearance experts Ange and Yvonne have been called in by the daughters of a lifelong hoarder to clear their dad’s house.
