While the Cat's Away
Brothers Dwight and Stu are willing to do just about anything to come up with the money for a new P-11 Baja Sandslicer dirtbike, including stealing. When they learn that the eccentric owner of a nearby estate is leaving for vacation, they decide to sneak in to his house and swipe a few valuables. What they find inside the creepy mansion is another story a scary one! The brothers are thrown into a hair-raising adventure, pursued by werewolves, zombies and vampires. By the time they finally escape, the bike is long forgotten. But their hard-lesson crime doesnt pay is something theyll never forget!
Nature
On a family picnic, brothers Rick and Teddy spend their time keeping three year-old sister Becky out of trouble, and waging war on a hill of ants with squirt guns and magnifying glasses. The fun is short-lived when a freak of nature pulls the brothers through the magnifying glass and deposits them in the world of the ants the brothers are just centimetres tall! The war takes on a chilling dimension as Rick and Teddy must escape becoming the ants next source of food. After finally befriending the creatures, thanks to Ricks knowledge of insects, Rick and Teddy and their new-found friends allies must now face the biggest peril of all Becky! By the end of the adventure, Rick and Teddy have a newfound respect for the natural world around them, and both agree to start picking on someone their own size!
Pleasant Screams
Strict teacher Felix Purdy has always been tough on his students, particularly on introverted dreamer Daryl Kregman. All Daryl wants is to transfer into a creative writing class, but Purdy refuses; no one transfers out of his class, ever. Purdy begins to have second thoughts when he is troubled by a series of nightmares which place him and the annoying classroom snitch Jenny in the middle of all kinds of spine-tingling action. Haunted castles, Japanese monster-movie scenarios and mysterious graveyards all create havoc in Daryl's mind. But are these Purdy's nightmares, or are they really Daryl's dreams? One thing is certain it doesn't take long for Daryl to get his transfer, and for Purdy to start paying closer attention to the needs of his students.
Gone Fishin' / A Little Body of Work
Young Randy is reluctant to accompany his Uncle Ned on a fishing trip Ned is the kind of sportsman who leaves fish lying all over the beach, rather than throwing back what he doesnt need. Sure enough, Uncle Ned is soon lured in and caught by a rival sportsman an aquatic monster who cans him like a sardine. / Delinquents Eddie and Herman have a bad habit of stealing parts for their hot rod from cars on the street, resulting in all kinds of accidents. One of their casualties is clean-cut rival Kevins vintage Mustang; it crashes during their race because Eddie and Herman switched a few key parts. But Kevins car is special as Eddie and Herman soon find out when it returns in demonic mint condition to give them the death-defying ride of their lives! They barely escape being taken to the auto grave with the Mustang, and throw themselves at the police, confessing to the recent rash of accidents anything to escape such a chilling retribution for their actions!
The Sleeping Beauty
Self-centered and conceited Prince Charming has only two goals in life: to look maahvelous, daaahling, and to reach the castle of Sleeping Beauty in order to kiss her out of her spell (so he can live the good life with her riches). Along for the ride is Charmings hapless brother Melvin, a resourceful young lad who is used to looking after Charmings well-being, since Charming is only interested in looking at himself. Its a task that keeps Melvin plenty busy on this trip, since the woods to Sleeping Beautys castle are haunted! After a perilous trek during which Charming is smugly unaware of the ghoulish dangers Melvin is facing for them they reach the castle, only to find that Sleeping Beauty is a vampire! Charming pays the price for his all-consuming vanity and his shallow greed with his soul!
The Works: In Wax
Craig and William are just about the only two people left who care about Rottmuckers Wax Museum and its collection of classic monsters. Unfortunately, since old man Rottmucker has passed away, it looks like slimy lawyer Boswick is going to get his hands on the property and ruin it for everybody. What Craig learns when alone in the museum, however, is that these monsters may be made of more than wax! He is thrown into a series of chilling adventures where he must help the monsters escape their respective scenes of pursuit that are depicted in the displays. When its discovered that Rottmucker left the museum to William in his will, and that Boswicks attempted takeover is illegal, the monsters return Craigs favour after all, a friend in need is a friend indeed! They chase the screaming lawyers out into the night, and when William reopens the museum, one of the new displays is a pack of monsters pursuing a hapless victim Boswick, trapped in a eternal waxwork terror!
Cave Man
Young Peters birthday is coming up, and he's looking forward to spending the weekend with his overworked father, a scientist at the local museum. A new exhibit is being designed to house a genuine caveman, and Orwell, the imposing curator of the museum, insists that Peters father work the weekend to make sure its ready to present to the board of directors. Peter is enraged by what he sees as his father choosing work over Peter. Out of spite, Peter deactivates the cavemans cryogenic chamber, hoping to ruin everything, but instead the caveman awakens! When it becomes clear that the caveman means no harm, Peter throws a jacket over his shoulders and takes him out for the weekend instead! Things start off smoothly enough, but all kinds of mayhem breaks loose as the caveman contends with twentieth century baseball games, amusement parks and irate mobs of people. Peter very quickly come to regret his snap judgements and his rash decision; by the time things are under control again, he and his father come to see each others points of view.
Hyde and Go Shriek
Wendell the nerd never wanted any trouble. In fact, he did everything he could to fit in and earn the respect of tough jock Rex Reavis and his friends, including dismissing all their cruel practical jokes with a shrug and a laugh. But when Rex sets free Wendells pet rat during a school prank, Wendell swears hell make Rex pay. Soon, a mysterious werewolf is terrorizing the streets of the city at night Rex learns that its Wendell, transformed by a strange potion, intent on teaching Rex a lesson! After a heart-stopping chase through the city (and an unusual twist of fate), Rex and his friends learn not to pick on kids like Wendell, or anyone else for that matter it leads to more trouble than they can handle!
Fare Tonight
Best friends Camille and Mildred are obsessed with monsters and vampires. They love scaring themselves, and each other, with movies, books and stories. When Camille reads in the paper about a mysterious cowled figure lurking in the streets at night, she and Mildred, armed with a makeshift vampire detector set out to find the vampire and dispatch him themselves. The girls get in way over their heads when they unexpectedly discover that the vampire is a friend of theirs the cowled mystery man is legendary vampire-hunter, Sanguine, their hero! With his help, Camille and Mildred manage to foil the vampire once and for all. Realizing the mortal danger they had placed themselves in, they agree to leave such high-stakes work for those that properly trained.
Gorilla's Paw
Lowly Walter would like nothing more than to join Ken "kingpin" Seldon's secret club. He hangs around the members all the time and puts up with their pranks, hoping one day theyll finally give in and make him a member. While browsing in a mysterious curio shop one day, the guys make Walter a deal: steal the Gorillas Paw, which allegedly makes all wishes come true, and theyll make him a member. Walter gets away with it, but Kingpin decided its not enough. Wishing that school will be closed the next day is not enough. Wish for the moon is not enough! If Walter can with the guys into the arena of their favourite TV show, Gruesome Gladiators, then hes in, and they spit-swear it. Walter makes it so but this is no game! These weapons arent props, and these ghouls are not actors in costumes! The mayhem increases with earthquakes and tidal waves; Walter wishes for the moon, and it looks like hes going to get it! He finally wishes he had never listened to Kingpin and the guys, or wanted into their stupid club and miraculously, everything snaps back into order. They all congratulate Walter and let him into the club, but hell have none of it. He single-handedly saved them all, and, not only will he be careful what he wishes for from now on, but hell do it without them!
This Wraps it Up
Naomi is extremely self-conscious about her height. That, plus the fact that shes the only girl on her class field trip to the Egyptian Pyramids, is all ammo her wisecracking classmates need to make her life miserable. An unexpected sandstorm pre-empts the original tour, and the class instead discovers two researchers on the verge of excavating the tomb of Ikah-Mu-Kahma . . . Egypts first female ruler. Naomi is overcome with a strange sense of dread, which her classmates dismiss as her typical weirdness. As it turns out, the researchers are actually grave robbers who have unlocked a curse as well as the vault! Naomis strange premonitions blossom into leadership skills she alone knows how to save the class and lift the perilous curse, thanks to her dreamlike visions. By the time she gets everyone to safety, the class has a newfound respect for Naomi, and for her wish that they leave Ikah-Mu-Kahma's place of rest alone.
Grounds for Horror
Petey and the rest of the guys are looking forward to a week of summer R and R at Camp Rockbotom until flat-topped Counsellor Bill call them to attention and informs them that there will be no time for fun. They arrived here as snot-nosed punks and they will leave as MEN! The boys object in fact, the other counsellor also objects, telling Bill that there will be plenty of time for them to grow up later, to let them enjoy being kids for awhile. But Bill stands firm until a hair-raising confrontation with an invisible monster leaves him cowering in his pup-tent! Petey explains that the monster is hozir, a playful forest creature visible only to kids, Hozir doesn't like grown-ups! Bill gets the message, and soon he's leading the boys and Hozir on the antic-filled playful adventures!
Ghost Ship
Radical surf dudes Mike and Ben decide to take Ben's father's most bodacious speedboat for a spin without permission. On the way out of the marina, they bounce it off a dock, and soon the craft is sunk! While drifting on their boogie-boards in the fog, they are approached by a pirate ship, manned by swarthy skeletons. When most ghostly Captain Redbeard informs them that they must help put the crew to rest by digging up an ancient hidden treasures and throwing it into the ocean, it occurs to Mike and Ben that the same treasures could buy Ben's dad a rad new boat. With gold trinkets in their eyes, the guys enthusiastically help the pirates out, but what they uncover is Redbeard's coffin the greedy guys were tricked into bringing Redbeard and his crew back to life and digging their own graves! A swashbuckling scramble ensues and the guys narrowly escape, only to meet a much more bogus fate: lifeguarding a kiddie-pool, their sentence for causing so much trouble!
