Following his student misadventures in "Doctor in the House," Michael Upton moves through a variety of jobs in general practice before returning to St. Swithin's Hospital as a junior registrar.
Encouraged by Dick, Michael gets a job in Harley Street with the elderly female Dr. Whiteland. In the end, the job is a sinecure that includes such duties as walking her dogs, and he feels wasted.
