Ballykissangel
When Father Peter Clifford arrives from Manchester, he knows he will be facing some opposition. After all, what is a young, inexperienced English priest doing in Ireland? He soon finds out that the town of Ballykissangel poses many more challenges.
For One Night Only
The Ballykissangel locals take part in the annual Charity Slave Auction, where they bid for the right to three hours of someone's time - all in a good cause. Sparks then fly when Father Peter casts Assumpta as heroine in the village play.
River Dance
Gold fever strikes the town when Enda is spotted panning for gold. Liam and Donal start a tourist scam while Father Peter Clifford tries to save the job of a dedicated teacher. Meanwhile, Niamh and Ambrose are trying for a baby.
In the Can
Brian Quigley is making a tourist film advertising Ballykissangel, with Liam and Donal as his crew. Father Peter decides to hold a Sunday Mass aimed at young people and enrols the help of musician, Enda O'Sullivan, to play at the Mass.
The Facts of Life
When a newborn baby is left on Father Peter's doorstep, he sets out to find the mother. Garda Ambrose, after slipping on a piece of soap, takes to his bed. Sergeant Foley announces a temporary replacement, Gard McMullen, a humourless, fussy individual.
Someone to Watch Over Me
Brian Quigley hires a new housekeeper despite daughter Niamh's displeasure. Kids new to the school cause problems for Brendan and Kathleen. Father Peter and Assumpta have a late-night drink, the subject turns to themselves.
Only Skin Deep
Brian Quigley announces a beauty contest just as Naomi comes to town claiming to be Eamonn's niece. Siobhan is immediately suspicious. Elsewhere, Niamh and Father Clifford are having trouble with Con O'Neil, but maybe someone closer to home can help.
Money, Money, Money
A fire at shopkeeper Kathleen's house leads to her being packed off to her sister. As Kathleen had no insurance, the villagers decide to restore the house for when she returns, and start a collection. Quigley tries to add to the fund.
Chinese Whispers
The presence of two strangers in town causes consternation. Quigley is burgled, losing his account books, he doesn't want to involve the police as the books are dodgy. Assumpta confesses to Niamh that she's thinking of leaving Ballykissangel for Dublin.
