Sense and Sensibility (1981)
This is Jane Austen's tale of two devoted sisters with totally different attitudes towards life and love. Filmed on location in the stately homes of picturesque Dorset and Somerset.

Episode 1
This is the story of 16-year-old Marianne, with her passionate hunger for emotional experience, her sister Elinor, outwardly so calm and collected, and the men they love.

Episode 2
Marianne cannot understand Elinor's philosophical acceptance of their new way of life at Barton Cottage as her own heart is breaking for their beloved house at Norwood.

Episode 3
Just as it seems that Willoughby and Marianne must be about to announce their engagement, he departs for London, leaving her bewildered and desolate.

Episode 4
Elinor has promised to keep the secret of Edward Ferrars' engagement to Lucy Steele. She manages to conceal her unhappiness even from Marianne, who is overjoyed that the two sisters are to visit London, as Willoughby lives there.

Episode 5
Marianne's heart is doubly broken by a yet more callous rejection by Willoughby. Elinor is to meet Edward's mother, who, ignorant of the engagement to Lucy Steele, plans to marry him to the heiress to a great fortune.

Episode 6
The sisters are to end their unhappy stay in London. Elinor is now as desolate as Marianne; alas, Edward's secret engagement is out at last. Mrs. Ferrars has cut him off without a penny, settling her entire estate on his brother Robert.

Episode 7
Marianne is at last out of danger. Elinor, waiting for Colonel Brandon to return with Mrs. Dashwood, has received a visit from the desperately penitent Willoughby.
