San Franciscans during the goldrush of the 1850s attempt to maintain law and order in their wild city. Newly arrived Matthew Wayne becomes the marshal and organizes the city police force.
Matt Wayne seeks to kill Benedict for the murder of his partner. Benedict is later killed and Wayne is setup for his murder and sentenced to hang.
