After crooked cop Lieutenant 'Dutch' Dixon kills his girlfriend and frames him for murder, Reno Raines escapes from jail and goes on the run.
As Reno waits out his pending appeal for murder, he is transfered to Paso Perdido Penitentiary where he finds himself in danger from the prison population as well as the law.
