Growing up near Inverness, Andy was surrounded by lochs, rivers, and forests, so the outdoors wasn’t something he had to discover - it was simply part of his everyday world. By 12 he had joined a diving club, by 14 a climbing club, and later honed his skills in parachuting, mountaineering, and other high-risk pursuits. At 19, Andy joined the army as an officer after university, drawn by the stability and opportunity to see the world. He specialized in bomb disposal, including underwater operations, thriving on the precision and sharp focus required. Though many label him an adrenaline junkie, Andy describes himself instead as a control freak who is drawn to challenges others avoid, not because of the danger but because of the discipline and clarity they demand. When administrative work began to replace field operations, Andy left the forces, initially working in private security before rediscovering his passion for adventure. He began cave diving, skydiving, and supporting wildlife documentaries as a dive supervisor and mountaineering guide. His expertise soon brought him in front of the camera, notably on the BBC’s Coast, and eventually into the world of high-profile adventure projects. In 2022, he even represented Team GB at the World Skydiving Championships in the USA. Andy speaks candidly about risk management, fear, and why “paranoia saves lives". His stories include the time his helmet filled with water during a dive or being lost in a cave on limited oxygen - but he stresses that avoiding near-death scenarios is the true mark of expertise. Most recently, a chance role as a safety diver on a film set introduced him to the stunt world. After working with the No Time To Die stunt team, he realized he’d found his tribe.
