The mechanised processes of the Industrial Revolution produced ships with impenetrable iron armour and with the launch of the Warrior in 1860, the age of the Ironclads began.

The best way to attack an enemy ship would be from beneath. This lead to the building of one of the most significant weapons of the second World War — the German U-boat.

Operation Hailstone,

In February 1944, the Micronesian paradise of the Truk Lagoon was visited by a United States air attack on Japanese forces, resulting in one of the bloodiest engagements ever seen at sea.
